Comments for Vetulus Pectoris Societas (Poor Souls Society)

Vetulus Pectoris, Ploutizo Pneuma (Poor Souls, Enriched Spirit) to me means we are to be pitied for all we've endured in this life, but that we should not despair because there is hope (through spirituality, artistry, literature, entertainment and media). Instead of starting a boring traditional book club I'm seeking to use all forms of art appreciation, communication, entertainment and current events to uplift our 'poor souls', enlighten our minds and raise our consciousness. In short, help the impoverished, disenfranchised and miseducated feel enriched, connected and informed!

VERY GOOD GROUP, GREAT WORK and WONDERFUL ENERGY>

I am very interested in the work by LEO COLLAZO.

Leo was a student in my computer art program in Miami and also studied with another professor, Robert Thiele, who shows in New York.

I have three pieces that Leo produced while in Miami that I have been cherishing carefully since 1994 when he asked me to pick them up from a gallery for him.

I want to let him know that I am very interested in his current work and if he would like to have these seminal pieces returned, I will send them to him.

My main reason for starting this blog was to give a voice to the downtrodden, impoverished and those who feel they have no voice. In my mind I have not fully accomplished that goal, because I have not given those who read this blog independent permission to add their own articles, pages and threads. I plan to do that this month with a relaunch of the site and I hope it can take on a life of its own. I wanted to use art, news, social justice and politics to make people more aware and to give everyone a chance to be heard as well. Thanks for reading the blog and if you'd like to have anything added to blog that you'd like to see more of... just let me know and/or send it to me. My e-mail is: elapellido@gmail.com Again, thanks for reading!

Sure...we all got laughs from JJ's antics on Good Times, just like we laugh at the comedians that make fun of black people in their comedy routines. However, I do have a problem with what I call "shuckin' and jivin'" or as you call buffoonery, especially now in 2008. Characters like JJ were the only way that many of our Black actors would ever be seen on television..so I do give actors and actresses like him credit for taking on roles that cast Blacks in a negative light. Take a show like the Boondocks. Although animated, it presents a pretty strong stereotypical image of Black people. Honestly, some of the episodes had me doubling over with laughter, others had me cringing and wondering what the rest of America is thinking. I wish that we could get television networks to back Black shows of substance, but until then...we do what we must to be seen.

Well ask away... and thank you! I would love to hear all your questions! Maybe you should introduce 'Polyamory' into your marriage so we can chat on here without you feeling guilty! ;-) A little extreme I know, but I would hate to loose a potential commenter due to feelings of infidelity.
